Portrait Emporium
Solo exhibition
27 September to 5 November 2022
Gateway Island Gallery, Wodonga, Victoria
An eclectic collection of wildlife portrait art
Portrait Emporium was my colourful and quirky celebration of obscure, intriguing and much-maligned characters from the wilds of nature.
Nature always has a special place in my heart and it’s been a great pleasure – and a challenge! – to paint and draw these wonderful animals. I wanted to showcase some lesser known and less popular animals and found myself discovering some curious new characters along the way. Nature continues to impress me.
Using various art mediums and techniques, I created each portrait as a lighthearted and independently unique impression, aimed at capturing each animal’s personality and individuality.
365 Play
Solo exhibition
19 December 2017 to 21 January 2018
Gateway Island Gallery, Wodonga, Victoria
365 Play blog of all art works
365 Play was a year-long challenge to create an artwork each day for the duration of 2017 — 365 days of the art of play. Using a light-hearted approach and whatever art mediums, techniques and ideas came to mind, I created art through play. My artworks were often inspired by an interpretation of the concept of ‘play’ in its various contexts.
365 Play was also a journey of exploring the benefits of play for adults. Grown-ups need to play too! Taking time out to play is essential to our wellbeing and creativity, especially now that too many of us are living with much busyness and stress. Making art is another fun and relaxing way to play and simply take a break from it all.
Anyone, at any age, can create art — any kind of art. There are no limits. There are no mistakes and no expectations. Just play and discover where your creativity takes you.
De Nova 2018
De Nova Artists, Group exhibition
23 October to 18 November 2018
GIGS Art Gallery, Wodonga, Victoria
For my works in this exhibition, I chose to reminisce about old classic horror and those iconic characters we have grown to know so well from popular horror films and literature.
I used a whimsical viewpoint for my mini celebration of this genre that provides a flashback to its lighter, humble origins.
